Beyond Deep was created with a desire to teach diving to a higher standard, ensuring new divers are confident and comfortable before continuing on their own. Our courses are designed with more dives to promote this philosophy, and ensure diver safety is foremost.

As the ocean is a diver‘s playground, Beyond Deep believes it is a diver’s responsibility to help preserve our waters. 10% of tuition from all classes will be donated to help protect our oceans.

Growing up, I listened to my dad talk about his experiences as a Navy Diver. As long as I can remember I have always wanted to dive, and loved to watch anything to do with diving and the ocean. In 1993 I took my first open water class through PADI in Shuswap Lake. A need for greater dive knowledge led me to continue with advanced training, furthering with several other courses and certifications to finally become a Dive Instructor.

Diving has proven to be an addictive adventure, and I take every opportunity to explore our local sites. Whether it’s seeing a few fish or spotting an elusive octopus, every dive is a good dive. Tropical water destinations with the beautiful reefs certainly make diving much more alluring. By far my favorite dives have been exploring the caves of the Yucatan. Once the splendor of these caves is seen, it is a wonder why everyone doesn’t long to dive.

Qualifications

It is important for divers to recognize that there are several qualified certifying agencies. The World Recreational Scuba Training Council lists many that are accepted and recognized worldwide. ACUC, SDI, SSI, NAUI, PADI are just a few.
